2010 Black Swan Arts, Frome
When Leslie’s painting Madonna
and Chimp was shown during the Open Art Exhbition
in Spring 2010, it prompted a controversy regarding the appropriation of
Christian imagery. In January 2011, Black Swan Arts hosted a debate around the
issue. Guest speakers were Salil Tripathi,
writer and Policy Director at the Institute for Human Rights and Business and Dr. Rob Irving, a researcher into performative
action in the shaping of sacred settings.
